Canavese International Forest School’s emergent curriculum is guided by pedagogical principles with roots in the Scandinavian forest school tradition, playworker methodologies, interest-led, inquiry-based teaching style and emphasis on social and emotional development.
By creating a gentle, nurturing environment, Canavese International Forest School supports young children in their natural development, including social/emotional, cognitive, and physical development, sense of wonder, resilience, critical thinking, artistic and creativity, independence, early citizenship skills, encourages excitement about learning and retains the desire to learn.
With these values, it teaches children HOW to problem solve not WHAT the answers are; it expands creativity, it promotes a willingness to take risks, and it results in children who have better peer communication, emotional resilience, lower frustration levels, higher perseverance, and who work more cooperatively with their classmates.
At Canavese International Forest School we have a high regard for listening to children; hearing their words, thoughts, stories, feelings, emotions, queries, questions and needs. We give them time to explain and we care about what they have to say.
